Mr Paul Harnett

BSc Hons (Sports Medicine) MB ChB FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics)

I’m a graduate of the University of Bristol Medical School and I also have a BSc in Sports Medicine. I became Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 2010, and I completed my Specialist Registrar training in Trauma and Orthopaedics on the Imperial College North West Thames rotation.

I chair the Cromwell Orthopaedic MDT meetings, at these meetings we make agreed decisions about patients treatment plans, we make sure everyone at the Cromwell is getting the best possible care from the latest evidence available.

I divide my time between performing hip and knee replacements, including revisions and sports trauma such as knee ligament surgery, and dealing with major trauma and complex fracture surgery. My NHS base is King’s College Hospital in London, which is one of the leading major trauma centres in the country and a highly respected teaching hospital.

I’m also involved in research, including identifying enhancements to wound healing, and I’m a reviewer for several orthopaedic medical journals.

In my spare time, I’m an avid outdoor sportsman and passionate about competing in triathlons (Team GB age group 2018 and sub three hour marathon in 2020).

Prior to medical school, I was an international downhill skier before suffering a knee injury , which has given me insight and understanding into many of my patient’s experiences.
